Where Freight Goes Digital, Money Gets Made

CoLoadX is the B2B ocean freight marketplace made for freight forwarders and NVOCC’s. Our mission is a simple one: to help freight intermediaries grow their businesses by accessing optimal pricing and a larger base of customers than they ever could before. We’re at the forefront of the move towards digital business, which puts the power of technology directly to work for your company’s revenue.

We’re on to something. If you’ve seen the rest of this website, you know that we’re people from the freight and logistics business. I’ve been in the freight forwarding business for nearly 20 years. My co-founder Petere Miner has been at it even longer. We’ve fought tooth and nail for business and we’ve seen an unacceptable level of customer turnover. We’ve lost orders for being $100 more expensive than a competitor. We’ve invested hours with prospects who were never interested in working with us, rather they just wanted to “see what’s out there” or “what’s going on in the market”. Even worse, we’ve devoted weeks to compiling processes and pricing for bids, only to learn that the rates we submitted “weren’t even close”.

We decided to do something about it. We set up CoLoadX as a tool to help freight forwarders and NVOCC’s run and grow their businesses. The purpose of this blog is to explain why freight intermediaries like freight forwarders and NVOCC’s need help and how to apply helpful revenue generating techniques to their businesses.

According to this article from the Wall Street Journal, since 2014 nearly $1 billion has been invested in freight and logistics startups. The vast majority of them are out to destroy freight forwarders, NVOCC’s and other such intermediaries. They go after the shippers of the goods, promising to give them the “Expedia” of the freight business. They go after steamship lines and try to negotiate contracts on the basis of a “potential” customer base as big as the Internet itself!

It doesn’t work that way…

We saw this back in the Internet 1.0 days. A bunch of startups decided to make websites where shippers could come and access competitive quotes from forwarders. Every single one of them failed for the simple reason that they all misjudged what you as forwarders and NVOCC’s do. Those startups all want to believe freight is a commodity, and hence ought to be managed in a rigid, mechanical way using stale algorithms. That’s not our business model. That’s not how we treat our customers.

Here’s what CoLoadX is going to do for it’s customers

Freight forwarders will earn more business by having access to competitive pricing. Our quoting process and marketplace capabilities will get you accurate pricing on high quality steamship lines, through trustworthy NVOCC’s…fast. That’s our promise to you.

NVOCC’s will grow faster without investing more money into sales, marketing and infra structure. The CoLoadX marketplace will bring sales opportunities from freight forwarders around the world, to your desktop.

Day after day we’re signing up customers – freight forwarders and NVOCC’s – who survive, grow and thrive by making impossible deadlines and deliveries happen for their clients. They are small and midsized businesses, like yours, that keep on fighting for market share everyday. They are large forwarders and NVOCC’s as well – the kind who have vision, and who care enough to make life easier for their employees from sales to operations and beyond. When you have a goal to remake an entire industry you want everyone on board, irrespective of size.

We hope you’ll sign up on our site, subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn as we do all we can to help your business grow.
